Dear Friends,

It is my honor and privilege, as your AA Convention Chair, to welcome each & every one of you to the 2026 SCVAA Convention with Al Anon participation. What a year it has been!

Our theme this year as we celebrate SCVAA’s 20^th anniversary is “Trust the Process.” It reminds us of one of the most important lessons we learn in recovery: We don’t have to have everything figured out. We simply have to be willing to take the next right step.

Moving the convention back to the Hyatt has been a huge step forward for the convention. I’d like to give a special thanks to Ben B., Judy F., Viktoria T., and Jim B. for convincing me that this could be done, as well as to the Convention Board for approving the move.

For many of us, trusting the process wasn’t easy. We came into the rooms wanting answers, wanting relief, and sometimes wanting life to change overnight. Instead, we were given a program, a fellowship, and a simple suggestion: keep coming back. Through meetings, sponsorship, service, the Steps, and the support of others, we began to discover that recovery happens one day at a time.

This weekend is an opportunity to slow down, listen, laugh, share, and remember why we came. Whether this is your first convention or your fiftieth, whether you are celebrating many years or simply made it through another day, you belong here.

I hope you take a chance this weekend to meet someone new, hear a message that touches your heart, share your experience, strength, and hope, and perhaps walk away with a little more faith in the process.

We may not know exactly where this journey will take us, but we can trust that when we stay connected, stay willing, and keep moving forward, we are never walking alone.

Thank you for being here & for making this weekend possible through your participation & spirit of fellowship. This weekend is only possible because of the extraordinary AA community in Santa Clarita. As you enjoy your weekend, please take note of those AA & Al Anon members with ribbons on their badges & thank them for their service. These are amazing people who sacrificed their time putting these events together. Better yet, ask them how you can be a part of next year’s convention.

Welcome. We are so glad you’re here.

It is with great delight & enthusiasm that I welcome you, our guests, to the 2026 Santa Clarita Valley AA Convention with Al-Anon participation!

My name is Adrian V., and I have the great honor of serving as the Al-Anon Chair for the 20th Anniversary Convention!

As I sit here writing this welcome letter, I’m reflecting on the past year of preparations and everything that has brought us to this moment.

When our AA members presented the theme for the convention, “Trust the Process,” I immediately began thinking about how many times in my own journey that I’ve needed to trust the process. Growing up with the family disease of alcoholism, my trust had been broken many times. Trusting even the people closest to me didn’t come easily, and I soon realized trust would become an important part of my own learning journey.

Thankfully, our Al-Anon literature speaks a lot about trust. I have learned that trust doesn’t always mean knowing exactly what is going to happen, or having control over situations and their outcomes. It simply means showing up, doing my part, letting go of results, and having faith that things would unfold exactly as they are meant to.

A few weeks ago, I was reading through emails sent by our Secretary, Laura M., when something suddenly occurred to me. After months of Al-Anon & AA planning meetings, phone conversations, special events, Al-Anon meetings, and conversations with my own Al-Anon sponsor, I stopped and realized how well everything was coming together. I had indeed started to trust the process.

Our Al-Anon Slogan, “Together We Can Make It,” rings true for me as I reflect on all the ways fellow Al-Anon and AA members have offered their support, encouragement, and expertise in all sorts of situations.

Now, as you experience this convention, whether it’s your first one, or one of many, I hope you allow yourselves to be present, enjoy the fellowship, listen with an open heart, and take with you whatever speaks to your own recovery.

Let us remember that none of us has to walk this journey alone. I hope we can remember that even when we cannot see exactly where the road is leading, we can let go, have faith, and Trust the Process.

Thanks to everyone who gave their time, energy, love, and service to make this convention possible.

I hope you leave this convention with renewed hope, meaningful connections, and a reminder that together, we truly can make it.
